What’s one thing you do that you find truly satisfying?
Right now, I’m in the midst of preparing a century-old treadle table for painting. I’ve been using wood filler and sanding most of the day, trying to do it justice. (The more exacting you are with the filling and sanding, the smoother and better your paint job will look!)
There is something deeply satisfying to me about smoothing old surfaces, recreating corners that have been worn down or broken off over the years, etc.
This table arguably looks worse than it did right now, with the pale wood filler patches everywhere, but hopefully in a few days it’ll have a whole new appearance! I’m leaving the intricately carved surfaces alone other than a gentle cleaning, just painting the top and trim.
Will the final result look anything like it does in my head? Time will tell!
