Hi, y’all! Apologies in advance for nothing particularly witty for this entry in MMM. My stomach is very mad at me. Yesterday, I had two extremely dairy-rich foods within a few hours of each other (one of them was ice cream! I really should know better), and now I am paying the price.
(No, it’s not lactose intolerance, and no, we don’t know what it IS about dairy that my stomach can’t process, but it has steadily gotten worse as I’ve gotten older. Milk’s been off the table for over a decade now; a few sips and I get suddenly, violently ill. Cheese seems to be less dire in small amounts, but it can’t be a soft cheese, etc…sometimes I just eat what I want to eat and then pay later. It’s stupid, but less depressing than steering clear of dairy all the time forever.)
So I’ve been ill all day. Don’t have a lot of brain cells firing at full power right now. Still, I wanted to check in and see how you are, and run through a couple of interesting things.
Esperanto is still going well. I love how intuitive that language is, and how easy to grasp the rules of grammar are — they don’t have exceptions and special cases (that I’ve run into, anyway), so once you figure out how to conjugate the words, it’s simple to apply the rule to new vocabulary as you go.
And…I did a scary thing. I submitted photos of my artwork for consideration in a juried art show! I’ve never done that before. I figure the worst they can say is no thanks (which, let’s be honest, would be crushing, but they also might say yes, which would be awesome!).
If I get in, I’ll have to come up with the booth fee (which is on the steeper side for such things — there’s a lot you get for it though, like 10×12 booth space with electricity and table provided, indoors with nice facilities and free pizza during booth setup, etc.) by mid-July. The art show is in late August. I’m sure I can make the fee back and then some, if I can just get in the door — so I’ll worry about affording the booth once I’m actually in, if/when that happens.
Wish me luck! I’ll keep you posted.
What’s new on your end?
