Mel’s Monday Musings: July 13, 2020

Hi, y’all.

The next Dresden Files book drops tomorrow.

It’s been years.

I know where I’ll be! Except…

I’m right in the middle (well, 43%, according to my Kindle app) of The Priory of the Orange Tree, and it is SO GOOD, y’all. So.good.

I think I’ll put it down to read Peace Talks, and then when I’ve processed that long-awaited book and am going through that sort of post-book slump, I’ll dive back in. It’ll be like a comforting, colorful cocoon around the experience of Jim Butcher’s writing, which is always on-point but equally as often emotionally draining. I love it! It takes a skilled author to make me feel so deeply, but it takes recovery time sometimes, especially this far into the series (Book SIXTEEN!) when I’m emotionally invested in all of these characters and they feel like family.

What are your book-reading plans for the next while? (If you haven’t read The Dresden Files or The Priory of the Orange Tree, I have suggestions. 😉 )
