Mel’s Monday Musings: April 27, 2020

Hi! Can you believe it’s almost MAY??

My puppy for The Stitched Puppy Project arrived today! I need to take “unboxing” photos. I’m going to add a patch of needlework to this blank plush dog, then send it to the next stitcher in my group, who will do the same, on through the last person, who sends it back to the rescue. There are multiple stuffed dogs getting this treatment; they will then be auctioned off to support Snooty Giggles Dog Rescue. It’s gonna be so fun to see what they look like when they’re finished!

I’m still in the midst of mask-making, too. I’ve made so many now that when I sit down at my machine, my hands just know what to do. And now that I’m comfortable with my sewing machine, of course I have “the bug” for this flavor of crafting/art. Other sewing projects await this summer!

Speaking of flavor, my first attempt at eastern-NC-style barbecue in the slow cooker (over 24h total on low, with various seasoning stages) was a hit! It’s not the best I’ve ever tasted, but it was damned decent for a first attempt, and I have ideas for the next. DH says it has to be during windows-open weather next time though, because the smell of vinegar permeated the entire house all of yesterday!

(It was strong, that smell. But so, so worth it. 😀 )

What’s new with you, friends? Hanging in there?
